Composer, musicologist, and computer media artist George Lewis is Professor of American Music at Columbia University. He is the author of the widely influential interactive improvisation environment, »Voyager« (1987), as well as »Rainbow Family« (1984). A Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, the American Academy of Arts and Letters, and a Corresponding Fellow of the British Academy, Lewis’s other honors include a MacArthur Fellowship, a Guggenheim Fellowship, and a Doris Duke Artist Award.  Lewis is co-editor of the »Oxford Handbook of Critical Improvisation Studies« (2016).
