Zirkonium is a MacOSX application for spatial music, currently being developed at Institute for Music and Acoustic, ZKM Karlsruhe. This software enables composers and sound artists to design complex spatial trajectories with an intuitive DAW-like GUI. This workshop instructs participants on how to spatialize sound materials for 3D loudspeaker systems, using various functionalities of the newest version of Zirkonium. This workshop will take place in ZKM Minidome, a small studio equipped with 23 loudspeakers. At the end of the workshop, all participants are encouraged to create and present short spatial music for Minidome, employing Zirkonium.

Participation

  • Participants are encouraged to develop their own piece using the system as part of the workshop

Technical requirements

  • All participants are highly encouraged to bring their own laptop: Software only for mac users (OSX 10.9 or higher)
