Meet-Up: karlsruhe.ai
Impressions of the opening of Open Codes
The Open Codes Exhibition and Learning Chess by Self-Play
Thu, December 14, 2017 7 pm CET

On Thursday, December 14, 2017, »Karlsruhe.ai« meets at ZKM and invites you and your family in friends to introduce them to the wonders of Artifical Intelligence.

This meetup is designed to be interesting for technical and non-technical participants and will be held in English.

For the first part, we will participate in a tour of the »Open Codes« exhibition currently at ZKM. The exhibition is concerned with codes, algorithms and their impact on everday lives. As all ZKM exhbitions, it showcases some amazing pieces of art and starts the discussion around a very timely topic.

For the second part, we will have a presentation of the main techniques and a guided discussion of »Mastering Chess and Shogi by Self-Play with a General Reinforcement Learning Algorithm« by Silver et al. In this recent paper, the authors use Reinforcement Learning to train a chess AI. They are able to beat Stockfish, the best chess AI to date, after just 24h of training. The discussion will be held inside the open codes exhibition. So normal visitors may join us and participate.

The meetup closes with the usual get-together for discussions and networking around Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence.
